In recent years, many agricultural companies have started investing in their own systems for generating energy from renewable sources such as photovoltaics or wind. But, even if your entire electricity supply comes from the grid, it may be worth investing in a battery storage system for your company’s operations. This will permanently reduce your energy costs and give you greater independence from your supplier.
Our TESVOLT storage systems reliably provide you with a reliable way of getting energy whenever you need it at an affordable cost. Store the electricity you generate yourself when you don’t need to consume it or use it when your installation is producing little or no energy. Cut high grid connection costs by investing in a large PV installation. Charge the storage system during periods of low power consumption and avoid peak loads during busy periods . Use your storage system to back up important installations, e.g. for ventilation or cooling, or against power failures.
Whether your business involves growing crops, farming livestock or producing dairy, an investment in a TESVOLT battery storage system will both pay for itself in next to no time and protect you against rising energy prices in the long run.
We’d be happy to help you without any obligations.
Agri-photovoltaics (Agri-PV) allows farmland to be used for agricultural production and electricity generation at the same time. Under DIN SPEC 91434, farming remains the primary land use — solar modules are mounted (for example, elevated above special crops or arranged vertically along field edges) so cultivation and harvesting are barely affected.
Under Germany's Renewable Energy Act (EEG), Agri-PV systems qualify as a "special solar installation" and are eligible for an additional remuneration rate — a financial incentive that makes Agri-PV especially attractive. To make full use of that advantage, pairing the system with battery storage is highly recommended: it stores the solar power generated on-site and releases it exactly when the farm needs it — for cold storage, milking equipment, or drying facilities, for example. That significantly increases self-consumption while also flattening demand peaks.
A battery storage system also opens up the option of marketing surplus solar power flexibly — through dynamic electricity tariffs or by trading on the power market — creating an additional revenue stream alongside agricultural production.

Without electricity storage, many farmers only use around 20% of the PV electricity they generate themselves, with the rest fed into the grid. A TESVOLT battery storage system, by contrast, allows you to use as much of the electricity you’ve generated from renewable sources as you want.
This way, you both gain greater independence from the rising prices offered by your energy supplier and save money with every kilowatt hour. Instead of at least 25 cent/kWh for electricity from the grid, a kilowatt hour only costs you 8 to 15 cents – including the purchase costs for your PV installation and storage.
Increase your self-consumption with a battery storage system and protect yourself against rising energy prices.
For agricultural operations, peak loading can occur at times when electricity consumption is higher than usual – in the mornings and evenings when the milking machine is in use, for instance, or when biogas installation agitators are running. Over an annual electricity consumption of 100,000 kWh, bills are driven up because electricity suppliers need to keep the output available at a constant level just in case, even if it is only briefly required. Just one peak load can push up costs for the entire year.
When you cover your increased electricity requirements with the help of a TESVOLT battery storage system instead, you save money. These systems store electricity from the grid or from renewable sources and make it available when you need it.

If your property only has a low connected load, your energy supplier may ask you to pay for feeding in electricity above a certain output level. In this case, it makes sense to use a PV installation purely for self-consumption. If you supplement this zero feed-in system with a storage system, you’ll significantly increase the self-consumption rate, i.e. you will use more self-generated electricity and reduce the amount purchased from the grid.
Power outages are a crucial consideration for agricultural operations. Protecting your ventilation, heating and cooling systems from power outages is vital for ensuring that animals and fresh products are not harmed. Protecting them with a diesel emergency power generator is associated with high fuel costs, noise and exhaust gases, and you may have to start the device manually yourself. A TESVOLT battery storage system, by contrast, provides reliable, inexpensive and clean back-up power – completely automatically, even while you’re away from the farm.

Electricity prices fluctuate depending on supply and demand. They are often particularly low when renewable energy generation is high or demand is low. The TESVOLT EMS analyses current and forecast prices and shifts electricity consumption and battery charging to lower-cost periods.
External consumers, such as EV charging stations, are also controlled intelligently. This maximises the use of renewable energy, improves energy efficiency and reduces grid electricity costs.
Investing in a battery storage system can often be supported by public funding. At the federal level, KfW offers various loan programmes for photovoltaic and storage projects on agricultural holdings, frequently at reduced interest rates and in some cases with partial debt relief. In addition, many German federal states run their own funding schemes for battery storage and Agri-PV, with conditions that can vary considerably by region and programme.
When storage is installed together with an Agri-PV system, the increased EEG remuneration rate for "special solar installations" adds a further financial benefit.
Because funding programmes and conditions change regularly, it's worth checking the German government's funding database (foerderdatenbank.de) before investing, along with getting individual advice. TESVOLT helps agricultural businesses identify the funding programmes that fit their specific location, and supports the whole process — from application to commissioning — as part of the overall storage project plan.

One battery storage system – two ways to create value
Whether you want to cut costs or generate returns, a battery storage system can be used flexibly to match your goals.
With TESVOLT Energy Management, the storage system operates directly behind your meter to reduce energy costs: through self-consumption optimization, peak shaving, and time-of-use strategies — optionally combined with dynamic electricity tariffs such as Tibber or aWATTar.
With TESVOLT Energy, your storage system becomes an investment: the full storage flexibility is marketed on the EPEX spot market or deployed in the balancing energy market — generating stable returns through energy trading and grid ancillary services.
TESVOLT ENERGY – MARKET LEADER FOR SMALL-SCALE SYSTEMS FROM 50 kW
Entry per system—as part of a virtual power plant.
→ Aggregation into a virtual unit
→ Combined marketing of capacity, power and flexibility
→ Market access for commercial battery storage systems too

TESVOLT Energy aggregates and controls battery storage systems into a Virtual Power Plant and markets their flexibility on the electricity market, enabling companies to generate predictable revenues from market volatility.
By monetizing the flexibility needed for the energy transition, this unlocks what is currently the largest untapped return potential for businesses and investors today.
You don’t need to fully understand energy trading. TESVOLT Energy manages the entire process — from aggregation and market trading to settlement — while giving you full transparency at all times through the Energy Portal.
Your battery becomes part of a pool of TESVOLT systems, forming a shared virtual power plant. The aggregated capacity unlocks access to markets that individual systems could not reach on their own. The more systems in the pool, the more precise the optimization.
