1.self-consumption optimisation – Solar power when you really need it

During the day, your PV system produces electricity – but consumption is usually highest in the early morning and evening hours. Without storage, the surplus flows into the grid at significantly lower feed-in tariffs (currently around 7 cent/kWh, with electricity prices sometimes exceeding 25 cent/kWh for businesses). When electricity prices are negative, the feed-in tariff is even eliminated entirely.

A TESVOLT storage system compensates for this gap: it stores the PV electricity generated and then makes it available when your business needs it. This allows you to increase your self-consumption share to up to 80% – and protect yourself from rising energy costs in the long term.

How large should the battery capacity be?

As a rule of thumb, the usable storage capacity should be around one third of the PV output in kWp. For a 60 kWp system, this equates to around 20 kWh of storage capacity – or more, depending on the load profile.

In order to store electricity during the day and use it at the desired time, a winegrower in Languedoc, France, is installing a 7 kWp photovoltaic system together with the TS 48 V battery storage system from TESVOLT. A photovoltaic system with a peak output of 80 kilowatts (kWp) covers the company's entire electricity requirements thanks to the TESVOLT storage facility with a capacity of 50 kilowatt hours. In Großschirma, a 5-hectare commercial area is being used innovatively as a solar park. The Green Energy 3000 Group, an international project developer from Leipzig, chose the TPS-E from TESVOLT in a 45-foot container as its battery storage solution. The 5.1 MWp PV system with bifacial solar modules is sufficient to supply 1,800 households with electricity. The operators receive an increased feed-in tariff and can simultaneously market the storage performance and capacity, for example through arbitrage transactions or participation in the balancing power market.
