As in other cities, the need for innovative housing concepts in Darmstadt is high. On the site of a former U.S. barracks, the “Lincoln-Siedlung” is being built as a model community for the city.
Featuring new mobility concepts, it also incorporates residential projects. One of these was implemented by Wohnsinn Bau- und Wohngenossenschaft. One of their goals was to build a passive house and to produce and use electricity from a photovoltaic installation. Thanks to the tenant electricity provider prosumergy, tenants can now obtain their electricity directly at a price that is well below the regional standard.
Since electricity usage is distributed widely throughout the day, the PV electricity is held in reserve for the night or cloudy days with a storage system. The solution was an innovative energy concept designed by ENVIRIA together with prosumergy, in which an 80 kWp photovoltaic system was installed on a green roof and a TS 48 V from TESVOLT was used as energy storage system.
