Wittenberg, 26 September 2017 – On 1 October 2017, Dr Victor Schäfer will take up his post as Vice President - Research & Development at the battery storage system manufacturer TESVOLT. In the newly created role, Schäfer, who previously spent five years in the automotive industry, will optimise quality assurance processes and apply them to the development of new products.
From electric mobility to stationary battery storage systems
Victor Schäfer comes from Porsche, where he completed a doctorate in energy management for lithium-ion storage systems and was in charge of the development of electric mobility as well as business quality in the field of electrics and electronics for five years. At TESVOLT, he will continue to dedicate himself to product development and quality assurance. “We are delighted that we were able to convince an outstanding expert like Victor Schäfer, with experience in the automotive industry, to work on the development of our range of products,” says Daniel Hannemann, Managing Director of TESVOLT.
Both electric vehicles and stationary battery storage systems place high demands on their lithium-ion cells, explains Victor Schäfer: “In both applications, storage systems must be capable of providing a very high quantity of energy and power within an extremely short space of time, while at the same time guaranteeing the utmost reliability. So I will now be able to apply my experience from the automotive industry at TESVOLT and drive forward the development of innovations there.”
Future of battery storage systems
In Schäfer’s view, the future of battery storage systems lies in the uncompromising focus on customer benefit: “TESVOLT has made the right innovation commercially available at the right time. In this market, it’s the company who can meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency who will make it to the top,” adds Schäfer, with an eye on TESVOLT’s innovative Active Battery Optimizer. This technology optimizes the SoC of each individual cell and guarantees TESVOLT’s lithium storage systems a service life of up to 30 years.
But there are still many other possibilities to explore in the field of stationary battery systems, says Schäfer. “This area is going to remain very active – I’m looking forward to integrating new technological innovations into forward-looking products at TESVOLT.”
Tesvolt specializes in commercial and industrial battery storage systems. The innovative company from Wittenberg produces lithium storage systems with prismatic battery cells from Samsung SDI, based on nickel manganese cobalt oxide. Tesvolt storage systems are always a good match, for high or low voltage, on- or off-grid. They can be used with any regenerative energy source or with combined heat and power units or fuel cells.
Tesvolt produces its commercial storage system solutions in series in Wittenberg, Germany, at Europe’s first gigafactory for battery storage systems, and delivers them all over the world. The company has already completed over 1,200 storage projects worldwide.
