New cyber-secure large-scale battery system with one-stop shop for municipal utilities

New 5 MWh Tallon storage container for co-location projects and battery parks

Wittenberg, 28 January 2026 – TESVOLT, a leading provider of battery storage systems, project development and energy trading services, is presenting its new 5 MWh Tallon storage container from 10 to 12 February at E-world, Europe’s leading energy trade fair, in Essen, Germany. The large-scale battery system increases the cyber security of battery parks and co-location storage projects through a proprietary battery park control system and European inverters. Municipal utilities benefit from a genuine one-stop shop: from planning and installation to operation, monitoring, services and power trading – all from a single provider.

More cyber security through proprietary battery park control

“Today, many battery containers hardly differ from one another, and almost all of them come from Asia. We also source them there, selecting robust, high-performance systems – but then we do something differently from many others: we integrate our own battery park control system, which provides significantly higher protection against cyber attacks,” explains Simon Schandert, CTO and co-founder of TESVOLT. “This control system incorporates several years of experience gained from numerous battery park projects.”

All data connections of the TESVOLT Energy Controller EZA pro L to the internet, for example, are exclusively routed via dedicated VPN tunnels to prevent external manipulation. In addition, outbound data connections are designed as one-way links only, and the plant controller is protected against direct internet access by dedicated hardware.

European inverters as protection against cyber threats

“The European Commission is currently considering excluding manufacturers of Chinese inverters from the European market in order to better protect critical infrastructure against cyber threats,” Schandert continues. “We have long recognised the concrete risks posed by inverters from certain manufacturers. This is why our storage systems are compatible with European inverters. Tallon, for example, works with a German inverter from SMA and a Spanish inverter from Power Electronics.”

Unique on the market: one-stop shop model for municipal utilities

“What no one else in the energy storage market currently offers: we do not simply deliver a battery container to municipal utilities, but accompany them along the entire path to a profitable battery park – including operation,” says Sebastian Jänig, Head of Utility-Scale Storage Projects at TESVOLT. “That may sound unspectacular, but no one else is doing this today. In concrete terms, this means that we provide battery containers tested by us with proprietary software, as well as project planning, installation, operation, monitoring and power trading. All components are coordinated with one another, everything runs digitally – and if digital support is not sufficient, our technical experts provide on-site assistance.”

Through its subsidiary TESVOLT Energy, the company also offers energy trading on the exchange. TESVOLT Energy cooperates with three of Germany’s leading power traders and puts them in competition with one another in order to achieve even higher revenues for municipal utility and commercial customers.

Tallon large-scale storage system for greater project flexibility

Thanks to its modular concept, the Tallon storage container provides greater flexibility in planning, operation and later expansion of storage systems. Customers can choose between one, two or multiple DC outputs per container and flexibly distribute battery capacity across several inverters. This allows storage capacity to be optimally matched to the desired power output, making charging and discharging processes more efficient. Storage capacity can also be expanded retrospectively.

Due to its very high level of fire protection, Tallon large-scale storage systems can be installed with a spacing of just 10 cm between units. The battery modules use heavy-metal-free LFP technology. Owing to its long service life, TESVOLT offers an above-average warranty of 15 years for Tallon, compared with the market standard of ten years.
