Aleithe Haftetiketten GmbH is a long-established family-run printing company with over 70 employees. The company supplies customers from almost all industries – from food manufacturers to beverage and chemical companies to medical product manufacturers. The requirements for labels are constantly increasing, for example due to legal requirements such as recycling obligations or complex material requirements.
Aleithe's machinery is sophisticated in line with requirements: six flexographic printing machines, several digital printing lines, complex multi-layer processing and specialised UV curing systems with nitrogen chambers ensure the highest quality and speed, even under food-compliant conditions. Production mainly takes place in two shifts from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with some orders passing through several machines in succession.
All these processes result in high energy consumption – around 789,000 kWh per year – which could only be partially covered by the existing PV systems on the company buildings.
The energy price shock during the coronavirus pandemic highlighted how vulnerable a medium-sized manufacturing company can be to volatile electricity costs. Although Aleithe subsequently installed PV panels on the remaining roof areas (totalling just under 500 kWp), two key challenges remained:
A compressed air storage facility that had originally been planned proved unsuitable; at the same time, prices for battery storage fell significantly. This made it possible to enter the field of modern storage technology in an economically viable manner.
Aleithe opted for a battery storage system from TESVOLT – partly due to the geographical proximity to the manufacturer and its confidence in the company's technological expertise. As a field test customer, Aleithe has been using a TESVOLT system since spring, which temporarily stores PV generation and thus significantly increases its own consumption.
Despite the usual field test start-up phase, it is already clear that the storage solution helps to make energy costs more predictable and significantly increases self-consumption. The storage system enables Aleithe Haftetiketten GmbH to absorb peak loads, efficiently store PV surpluses instead of feeding them into the grid at unfavourable conditions, and, in the future, use trading applications as soon as sufficient operating data is available. The TESVOLT FORTON offers
Genuine efficiency
Thanks to HYPEROX+ technology, energy consumption for cooling is reduced by approx. 60% compared to liquid-cooled systems. The result: lower operating costs and high cycle stability.
Flexibilität
Optimale Systemauslegung mit bis zu 4 Batteriesystemen pro Wechselrichter und bis zu 16 Systemen parallel von 90 kW – 1500 kW skalierbar. Einfache Inbetriebnahme dank Plug-n-Play Installation.
Sicherheit
Hohe Betriebs- und Investitionssicherheit durch integrierte Cybersecurity, Over the Air Updates und direktem Servicezugriff. Bis zu 15 Jahren Garantie bei Nutzung der TESVOLT Energy Trading Option.
As a family business, we think long term. We see storage as a strategic building block – and we remain convinced that we are on the right track.
– Raik Lau, Technischer Leiter, Aleithe Haftetiketten GmbH
It is important for us to get our energy consumption under control and at the same time be able to produce sustainably. The storage solution from TESVOLT is exactly what we need.
– Kerstin Aleithe, Managing Director, Aleithe Haftetiketten GmbH
