BMVI funding for electromobility concepts

Name of programme:
Förderung von kommunalen und gewerblichen Elektromobilitätskonzepten [Funding of municipal and commercial electromobility concepts]

What does it fund?

The BMVI funds municipal and now also commercial electromobility concepts

The BMVI continues to support the development of electric vehicle fleets and the charging infrastructure for them. As part of this, the preliminary consideration of concepts has a contribution to make in getting the electromobility market up and running. As of now, local authorities as well as municipal and now also commercial enterprises can apply for funding for application-oriented electromobility concepts.

The main areas of focus for this funding are as follows:

  • Electrification of municipal and commercial fleets including charging infrastructure
  • Groundwork for the development of municipal/regional public charging infrastructure
  • Integration of municipal or commercial e-vehicles into intermodal traffic and logistics concepts and mobility services

Duration of programme:

The application period runs until 17 May 2021.

This funding call for concepts is the third call within the scope of the new funding guideline on electromobility following its publication on 24 December 2020. Overall, the BMVI has been supporting the preparation and acceleration of the battery electric market since 2010. Within the scope of the BMVI funding guideline on electromobility, four calls for electromobility concepts have been undertaken in the last five years. This has led to around 200 concepts being supported by the BMVI. More than half of these have already been completed.

With the new funding guideline, which runs until the end of 2025, battery electric applications continue to be funded in line with the funding focus areas established in 2015. The guideline prioritises getting the market up and running, and supports the transition of municipal and commercial fleets with high transport capacity to battery electric vehicles. The charging infrastructure required for operating the vehicles is also funded.
