Environment-friendly shipping company
Thanks to a solar power and storage system, the Lutter logistics company in Bönen, North Rhine-Westphalia, is now independent from the power grid. The company has a staff of 52 and transports goods across all of Germany. Their photovoltaic system with a performance of 80 kilowatt peak (kWp) covers the company’s entire electricity demand thanks to the TESVOLT storage system with a capacity of 50 kilowatt hours.
In the early hours of the morning and late at night, the storage system provides power to the company’s servers and IT systems as well as the heavy goods vehicle workshop and two vehicle wash stations. At Lutter, the electric forklifts also run on solar power. In the future, the storage system will be augmented to also function as an emergency power solution.
Within eight years, the entire system — including the battery-based storage unit — will already have paid for themselves. The federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia provided a 50-percent subsidy for the storage system.
